Get Ready

All you need to develop Web apps with OpenUI5 is a development environment and a browser. Choose between SAP Web IDE in the cloud for maximum convenience or set up your local development environment for maximum flexibility.

Both options are described under Development Environment in our documentation that is included in the OpenUI5 Demo Kit.

Start Coding

Now it is time to build our first OpenUI5 example! We load OpenUI5 from the CDN and create a text that displays "Hello World":

Your browser doesn't support Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS). Thus, you cannot see the result of the above sample here.

We bootstrap OpenUI5 with common configuration settings. Then we create a button control and place it directly into the HTML body.

Create an App Using the MVC Pattern

The app is similar to the example above but the file structure reflects the MVC paradigm:

Your browser doesn't support Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS). Thus, you cannot see the result of the above sample here.

In addition to the index.html, the entry point for our app bootstraping OpenUI5, you can see the following files:

To keep things simple, we don’t use a model in this example. Feel free to modify and extend it as you need!
